COACHING AND OFFICIATING

Welcome to Gold Coast Hockey umpiring page, dedicated to supporting umpires, umpire coaches and technical officers. Officiating is a great way to develop a better understanding of hockey.  Whether you’re a player, coach, parent or teacher, a better understanding of the riles will assist in all aspects of your game.

Create a local pathway for officiating and umpires starting from introductory programs all the way to elite pathway opportunities through:

  • Developing and supporting mentor programs for junior and senior umpires

  • Providing accreditation opportunities

  • Aligning with state and national programs

  • Providing pathways to regional and state competitions

Our officiating committee always need more volunteers to assist with the running of our weekly

competition, if you would like to express your interest please email admin@goldcoasthockey.com

If there are any umpiring issues you wish to raise, please address the correspondence to

Coaching Courses

There is no pre-requisite qualification needed to undertake the Level 1 Coach training program.

Once you have registered and paid and via the link above:

  1. You will have access to the course to learn at your own pace.

  2. When you are ready, complete the quiz and the practical assessment, then upload the practical assessment for review.

The Level 1 Coach program is broken into three parts:

  • Community Coaching General Principles online course developed by the Australia Sports Commission (ASC).

  • A practical evaluation of one training session and one match as a coach.

  • A one-day practical course conducted by your state or territory hockey association.

The three parts can be completed in any order and in your own time. You will need to submit evidence of completion for the ASC Community Coaching General Principles online course to your HockeyEd Coordinator.
