On behalf of the Gold Coast Hockey Association, It is with great sadness and sorrow that we morn the loss of Boma Donald Dede, 26, who passed away on Tuesday the 7th of June.
Boma has spent the last decade playing with the Mudgeeraba Hockey Club. His obvious tenacious talents on the playing field made him a key member of the Div1 men's team. He was tough and made no apologies either in a game and even to team mates at training. We have fond memories when Boma and his 3 brothers Mie, Belema & Deinma all played in the same team together at Mudgee. It was a wonderful time for us all.
However it was off the field where a deep love for a truly special individual was born. Boma was the life of many gatherings and always up for some mischievous fun and usually at his own expense.
Boma shared an incredibly strong bond with his team mates many of which have grown up together with him. They are hurting and their sorrow runs deep, but they are keen to honor their beautiful friend and band together to finish the season as he would have wanted them to.
The association wishes to send its love and deepest sympathies to Boma's fiancé Jess and his three amazing brothers who are also Mudgee family in Mie, Belema & Deinma. Our hearts are breaking with you and our love and support of you all is unrelenting.
Boma's funeral and celebration of his life will be held on Friday the 17th of June at the Sommerville Chapel in Allambe Memorial Park, from 4pm.
All are welcome.
If you have one, please bring a printed photo of yourself and Boma with written memories/quotes/kind messages on the back for a photo board in his memory. Suggestion: you can print your favourite Facebook photo to share with everyone.
