GCHA is looking at entering a development team into Division 2 at this years under 15 girls state titles at Tweed Heads from Monday July 5 to Friday July 9.

Gold Coast Hockey Association in conjunction with Hockey Queensland is seeking a suitably qualified hockey coach for 10 hours per week to work in the following key areas for the remainder of the 2010 season:

• Training selected Qld players from the U/13 age group and beyond in the lead up to their national titles
• Talent identifying players with a vision to creating a program to develop these players to a state level
• Working with the associations representative coaches and representative teams in the U/13, U/15 & U/18 age groups across both genders in the lead up to their state titles

The successful applicant will also be expected to:

• Travel with the associations U/13 girl's team to Atherton as a mentor coach and senior support person for the duration of the state titles.

This is a contracted position fully funded by Hockey Queensland for the following period: May 31 through to September 30 2010.

We would like to congratulate all our players who attended the Open Men's championships. You were the very best players from the Gold Coast this year that combined to become a dominant force in the Open Division.  You didn't just win the round games and the semi final you completely dominated your opponents and for 60 minutes of the final you were right in the game.  Just a 10 minute period in the final Brisbane took the game away from you.

What you all have done in one weekend for Gold Coast Men's Hockey can not be underestimated.  Gold Coast Men's Hockey was a forgotten force in QLD Hockey before your dominate efforts.  You have all taken the first step to restore your regions reputation and hopefully in the not too distant future restore it to its rightful place amongst the states elite teams in the Men's Premier Division.

Congratulations to Joe Reardon for being named player of the series in the Open Division.  Also congratulations to Joe Reardon & Heath Ferguson for both being named in the QLD Development team to tour NZ later in the year.  All players should be very proud and share in both players individual achievements as your efforts all contributed to their individual selection.  We hope that Joe & Heath's selection will pave the way for more Gold Coast players to be considered in the future.
